Green Smoothies and a Confidence Boost

It’s amazing to think how a simple internet search for green smoothies inspired me to attempt something out of my comfort zone.

About two months ago, I was searching online for green smoothie recipes. While searching I came across simplegreensmoothies.com, a site run by two young moms from the San Francisco area—Jadah and Jen. I browsed for a while, printed some recipes to try out, and then, for some reason,  clicked on their About Me page.

Their story really got my attention.

Jadah and Jen, in fifteen months, grew their Simple Green Smoothies’ community from 0 to 200,000 subscribers, reaching more than 10 million page views, 270,000 Instagram followers, and 160,000 Facebook fans.  They took their passion for drinking smoothies and turned it into a successful business. Crazy, isn’t it?

They attributed their online success to joining Marie Forleo’s online Business School (known as B-School).

Mmmm, Marie Forleo? I had no idea who she was, but now I was intrigued. So, I clicked on the provided link to learn more about B-School. Funny how one thing leads to another, right?

Come to find out, B-School is a video-based training program that teaches smart, effective online marketing strategies to business owners who want more sales and more impact from their online presence. It’s directed to the action-oriented, ambitious beginner, to the established, online business owner, and to those who want to grow their audience and revenue online.

Everything sounded wonderful, but of course, it came with a price; a price I don’t think I could ever bring myself to paying anyone, even if I had the money! However, her videos were free and she seemed pretty charming and fun, so I went ahead and watched one of them just for kicks.

I’m so glad I did.

Marie’s video was entertaining, upbeat, encouraging, and full of great business advice. But the one thing that resonated with me was her very last statement–“Stay on your game and keep going for your dreams because the world needs that special gift that only you have.”

Simple, right? But inexplicably, it touched my heart.

I remember sitting in my office thinking, “what’s MY special gift? what does the world need that only I can offer?”

And then it hit me.

My special gift to the world is who I am today.

Think about it. Our lifelong experiences are the foundation of what makes us special and unique. Our formal education, hobbies, places we visit, friends, jobs, reading habits–and the list continues–are the experiences that continue to shape our one-of-a-kind blend of attributes and abilities. In other words, no individual in this world has the same combination of knowledge and qualities as any of us.

This notion of being unique and having something different to offer is the kind of mindset that every entrepreneur must pursue in order to stay afloat, especially in the beginning.  There will always be competition, so gaining confidence in our own unique abilites is key in order to stand out and succeed with anything that we pursue in our lives.

Being new in the entrepreneur field, I am grateful for FREE business advice. It really is everywhere on the internet. My budget is very limited, and for that reason I love having access to the wealth of information the internet has to offer. From learning the do’s and don’ts of setting up a website, to mastering the art of how search engines (SEO’s) really work, there is so much out there to be learned it’s almost addicting!

So thank you, Marie Forleo, for giving me the confidence boost that I needed to inspire me to go for something so out of my comfort zone. A confidence boost that didn’t cost me a penny, but that to me, was worth a fortune.

  1. This really resonates with me! Just the other day, I was thinking I ought to write something about confidence. Thanks for the reminder!
